So, what is philosophy, anyway? Is it just people in togas sitting around, pondering the meaning of life? Or maybe it’s just something you have to endure to get that humanities credit? Well, let me surprise you—it’s neither of those (or maybe a little of both, honestly).
Philosophy, at its roots, is all about asking questions. Big, annoying questions that keep you up at 3 a.m. wondering if reality is even real. But, here’s the thing: these questions have shaped history, molded minds, and even affected what we do in our daily lives. From Socrates wandering around ancient Athens bugging people about virtue, to Descartes deciding that he thinks, therefore he exists—philosophy has always been the OG of deep thought. It’s like the original rebel rockstar of academic fields.
But why should you care? Well, we’re going to make it fun. Each episode, we’ll tackle one of these big questions and dive into the minds of thinkers who dared to challenge the way things are. Whether it’s about the meaning of life, what makes us human, or just why we feel anything, we’ll take you on a journey back to where it all started and connect it to the messiness of modern life.
And yes, you’ll find out that a lot of the things you do—like questioning if Mondays should exist or if cats actually like us—have roots in deep philosophical thought. (Thanks, Aristotle!)
Stay tuned, because we’re just getting started. Next up? We’ll dive into the big question that started it all: why even bother asking “why?”
Just kidding, we’ll be going back to Ancient Greece to meet THE man who started this all, who basically created philosophy. Yup, you guessed who it is, our grand and beloved… SOCRATES!
XOXO, strangers!
